Tereza had always dreamt of exploring Europe. After years of late-night studying and poring over textbooks, she had finally finished her degree. To celebrate, she decided to embark on a grand adventure - a journey through Europe by train. With a small suitcase and a heart full of wanderlust, Tereza set off from her home in Czechia, starting with Prague.
Her journey began in the city she knew so well. In Prague, she wandered through the cobbled streets of the Old Town, marveling at the Gothic architecture and savoring traditional Czech pastries. Each corner held memories of her childhood, and yet she found new wonders to appreciate in her familiar surroundings. From the majestic Prague Castle to the serene Charles Bridge at dawn, Tereza reveled in the beauty of her home country.
Next, she traveled to Munich, where the blend of old-world charm and modern vibrancy captivated her. She visited grand palaces, wandered through sprawling gardens, and enjoyed hearty Bavarian meals in bustling beer halls. The grandeur of Nymphenburg Palace and the lively atmosphere of Viktualienmarkt were highlights of her stay. As the day ended, she would reflect on her adventures and the familiar comforts of home.
From Munich, Tereza's journey took her to Geneva. The city’s pristine lake and majestic views of the Alps left her in awe. She spent her days exploring museums, strolling along the lake’s edge, and enjoying the sophisticated atmosphere of this Swiss gem. The tranquil Jardin Anglais and the awe-inspiring Jet d'Eau were her favorite spots. In the quiet of her hotel room, she found solace in lighting her favorite scented candle, Midnight Meadow, letting its fragrance transport her back to the peaceful meadow near her home.
Her next destination was Marseille, a city that greeted her with its vibrant energy and Mediterranean charm. Tereza loved wandering through the colorful markets, tasting fresh seafood, and feeling the warm sun on her skin as she explored the bustling port. She marveled at the stunning Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde and relished the flavors of bouillabaisse by the harbor.
Barcelona was a feast for her senses. Tereza was captivated by Gaudí’s whimsical architecture, the lively streets of La Rambla, and the rich tapestry of Catalan culture. She spent her days visiting art museums, enjoying tapas, and strolling along the beach. Park Güell's vibrant mosaics and the awe-inspiring Sagrada Família left a lasting impression on her.
Her final destination was Lisbon, a city of hills, trams, and breathtaking views. Tereza had longed to meet the ocean, and the sight of the Atlantic stretched out before her was everything she had imagined. She explored the narrow streets of Alfama, listened to soulful Fado music, and watched the sunset over the Tagus River. The historic tram rides and the panoramic views from Miradouro da Senhora do Monte filled her heart with joy. On her last evening, she lit Midnight Meadow for the final time on her journey, its fragrance mingling with the salty sea breeze that drifted through her window.
As she stood on the cliffs overlooking the vast ocean, Tereza felt a profound sense of fulfillment. She had traveled across Europe, discovering new places and making memories that would last a lifetime. She breathed in the familiar fragrance one last time and knew that she had found both the beauty of the world and the comfort of home, all wrapped up in the gentle flicker of a flame.
